Chicago immersive

Actors Theatre of Little Rock presents “Chicago” (music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, book by Ebb and Bob Fosse), in an immersive, touring production, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday through July 27 at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church, 1600 Louisiana St., Little Rock.

The “immersive” production, in the style of the stage production of “Sweeney Todd,” places the action – in the setting of a 1920s jazz club – within and around the audience and allows some audience members to join in.

A preview begins 20 minutes before each performance. The theater group rates the show as 13+ due to content “that may not be appropriate for all audiences,” including sexual content, strong language, use of weapons and death.

Three types of seating are available: immersive seating, $35, which includes the show’s cocktail served by the actors during the pre-show; completely non-immersive seating, $30, which includes “no audience interaction of any kind”; and general seating, $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and military, which includes “light audience interaction.” Visit actortheatrelr.org/tickets.

Jersey Boys at MDP

“Jersey Boys” (music by Bob Goodio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Ellis), which tells the origin story of the Four Seasons, opens Wednesday and runs through Aug. 17 at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, 6323 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock.

Ethan Patterson stars as Frankie Valli, with Micah Patterson as Judio, Michael Klutcher as Tommy DeVito, and Caleb Menard as Nick Massey. The cast also includes Xavier Jones, Thomas Williams, Ethan Hart, Jimmy Stewart, Tom Cooper, Drew Posey, Ashley Merrill, director and choreographer Moriah Patterson, and Lexi Brooks.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday (12:30 p.m. only for matinee performances on Wednesday, July 10, 17, and 24) and at 12:45 and 6:45 p.m. Sunday. Buffet opens 90 minutes before curtain time. Tickets (includes meal and show): $42-44; $30 for children 15 and younger; $30 for show only. Call (501) 562-3131 or visit murrysdp.com.
