Chicago immersive
Actors Theatre of Little Rock presents “Chicago” (music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, book by Ebb and Bob Fosse), in an immersive, touring production, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday through July 27 at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church, 1600 Louisiana St., Little Rock.
The “immersive” production, in the style of the stage production of “Sweeney Todd,” places the action – in the setting of a 1920s jazz club – within and around the audience and allows some audience members to join in.
A preview begins 20 minutes before each performance. The theater group rates the show as 13+ due to content “that may not be appropriate for all audiences,” including sexual content, strong language, use of weapons and death.
Three types of seating are available: immersive seating, $35, which includes the show’s cocktail served by the actors during the pre-show; completely non-immersive seating, $30, which includes “no audience interaction of any kind”; and general seating, $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and military, which includes “light audience interaction.” Visit actortheatrelr.org/tickets.
