With the help of the United States, Austria has restored two women and three children from the Roj camp in northeastern Syria on Saturday, March 1.
Nearly 23,000 individuals from more than 60 countries outside Syria are still in the horror and Roj camps, most of whom are children under 12 years of age. Of the total, about 3,800 European citizens from more than 35 different countries.
The return of citizens to their countries of origin is the only solid solution to the security and humanitarian challenges offered by the AL-HOL and ROJ camps and detention centers in northeastern Syria. Moreover, these measures reduce the risk of ISIS back in the region. The United States of America thanks Austria for working with us to restore its citizens, and thanked the local authorities in northeastern Syria for facilitating these efforts.
The Trump administration continues to encourage countries to return its citizens from northeastern Syria. As the dynamics change in the region, we cannot allow these challenges to communicate.
