CHICAGO (WLS) — A teenage girl and a woman were injured after a stabbing and shooting near 31st Street Beach Saturday night, according to Chicago police. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about violence in the area, following a recent crackdown on crime.
Incident Details
Altercation Leads to Violence
Police reported that the incident occurred around 11:34 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Fort Dearborn Street. A 26-year-old woman was involved in an argument with a 17-year-old girl. During the altercation, the teen allegedly stabbed the woman in the arm. The woman, who possessed a valid Concealed Carry License (CCL) and Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card, responded by shooting the teenager in the shoulder.
Clarification of Events
Initially, there was some confusion regarding the details of the incident. Chicago police first stated that the teen had been stabbed and the woman had been shot. However, it was later clarified that the woman was stabbed and the teenager was shot.
Medical and Legal Outcomes
Both the woman and the girl were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover. No charges have been filed at this time, and detectives from Chicago Police District 1 are continuing the investigation.
