The small business administration will transfer its office in Chicago on the policies of the “haven” in the city, and it was announced on Thursday.
Official Kelly Lovler announced this as part of an initiative it says is compatible with an executive order from President Donald Trump prohibiting access to federal financing from granting individuals without legal status in the United States.
SBA plans to transfer six offices located in “municipalities that do not comply with us to migrate and customs enforcement.”
One of these offices is located in Chicago, with others located in Atlanta, Boston, Denver, New York and Seattle, according to Lovler's announcement.
The advertisement said that the offices will be transferred to “less expensive and easier sites”, but they did not clarify the place where the offices will be transferred.
“We will return our focus on empowering legal and qualified business owners throughout the United States – in partnership with municipalities who share this administration's commitment to secure borders and safe societies,” Levler said in a statement.
Lovler also announced that the administration will put a citizenship verification policy that will force lenders to confirm that the implementation of companies is not fully owned or partial by a person in the country illegally.
He joined the mayors in New York City, Boston and Denver, the mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson on Wednesday in Capitol Hill regarding the city's campus policy in the city. Mary Ann reports from NBC Chicago.
The news comes just one day that Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson, New York mayor Eric Adams, Boston Michel Woo mayor and the mayor of Denver Mike Johnson, in front of the Supervision and Government Reform Board committee over their city’s policies when the local police can cooperate with federal immigration procedures.
Policy prevents city officials from asking about the state of immigration or revealing this information to the federal authorities. City services cannot also be rejected for an individual who is on immigration.
Illinois law prohibits the police from cooperating with efforts to enforce federal immigration in civil immigration cases, but it does not prevent such cooperation in criminal cases in which a federal order is issued.
The Ministry of Justice has filed lawsuits on these policies, claiming that it violates Trump's executive orders, which announce a national emergency on the border between the United States and Mexico, but the courts have repeatedly supported the legitimacy of the laws of resort, according to NBC News.
During Johnson's testimony, the Republicans were accused of “major” of immigration as a issue.
We know that there are myths about these laws. But we should not let misconduct and fear deceive the fact that the Chicago crime rates are heading. It is great. “
Representative James Kumler, Chairman of the Committee, criticized the heads of municipalities in the four cities of what he called obstructing the Trump administration's efforts to reduce border crossings. He called for the elimination of federal funding for cities and judicial states that have the policies of the “city of the sanctuary” in books, but such a procedure requires the approval of Congress.
