On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the government and people of Mauritania on the sixty-fourth anniversary of Mauritania's independence.
Mauritania embodies Africa's resilience and has made great strides in governance, economic development and regional security. We commend Mauritania's efforts to promote democratic principles, strengthen civilian-led democratic institutions, address human rights concerns, support refugees, and promote inclusive economic growth.
The United States is committed to our strong partnership in the fight against terrorism, which is critical to the security of the Mauritanian and American peoples. We aim to deepen our cooperation in areas such as promoting inclusive economic development, energy access, Atlantic security, democratic governance, and human rights and fundamental freedoms. We look forward to working together to achieve our common goals and meet global challenges in the years ahead.
