NATIONWIDE — Meet Iris Patterson, founder and CEO of Chicago Integrated Health, the newest Black-owned health center and medical clinic in Matteson, Illinois (just 20 minutes from Chicago). The company is run by three generations of Black women — Iris, 43, a certified holistic nutritionist; her mother, Lauren White, 60, a licensed psychotherapist; and her daughter, Taylor Johnson, 26, who just graduated from DePaul University and will soon be a licensed psychologist.
The Chicago Center for Integrative Health integrates nutrition, psychotherapy, massage therapy, and fitness to combat anxiety, depression, and lifestyle diseases.
Iris, who grew up on welfare herself, says her clinic is passionate about serving other underserved families who rely on welfare. The clinic accepts both Medicaid and Medicare, and in total, has 18 people on staff including mental health practitioners, a nurse practitioner, a supervising physician, personal trainers and massage therapists.
“We are two amazing women running this business,” Iris says. “My mom was 16 and pregnant when she had me, and I was only 16 when I had my daughter. We were young moms, but that didn’t stop us from being successful and giving back to our community.”

About the founder
Iris Nicole Patterson is a stage 4 colon cancer survivor, multi-faceted professional, and philanthropist. She is also a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Certified Health and Wellness Coach after earning certification from the American Association of Fitness Professionals (AFPA).
In addition to being the president and founder of Chicago Integrated Health (CIH), she is also the founder of Iris Botanicals, a natural hair care company that she started in her kitchen after she lost her hair from a quick weave removal months before her wedding. After trying countless hair products, she searched for a growth formula that would restore her hair to its natural state in time to walk down the aisle. Exactly one year after launching, she landed her first retail chain, Whole Foods Market. Iris is also a licensed clinical massage therapist.
She graduated from Soma Institute of Massage Therapy in 2010. Her mission is to help everyone find their happy place in health.
