An operational test launch of an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from Air Force Global Strike Command was launched from Space Force Base Vandenberg on Tuesday, June 4, at 12:56 a.m. PT.
The purpose of the ICBM Test Launch Program is to verify and verify the safety, security, effectiveness and readiness of the weapon system, according to Air Force Global Strike Command.
This was the first test launch scheduled for this week from North Vandenberg.
Colonel Brian Titus, Space Launch Delta 30's deputy commander, was the decision maker for the launch.
“This test launch marks the beginning of a great week for our rangers and pilots at Vandenberg, with two test launches scheduled from the Western Range,” Titus said. “These tests hold great significance, not only for the defense of our nation, but also serve as a pivotal moment in showcasing the exceptional capabilities and expertise of our dedicated team.”
