On behalf of the United States, I congratulate the people of Mali on the sixty-fourth anniversary of their independence.
Since that day, the United States has been a steadfast partner to the Malian people, helping to build a better future through cooperation on health, education, governance, security, and other key areas of shared interest. The United States recognizes the many sacrifices and lives lost to violent extremist organizations this year. We stand with the people of Mali in their efforts to achieve democracy, lasting peace, and prosperity.
I extend my best wishes to the people of Mali on the occasion of their Republic Day celebration.
