On Thursday, health officials warned that among the sites where the potential exposure to the measles issue in Illinois may have occurred on Thursday from Wal -Mart, a grocery store and more than that among the sites where possible exposure to the measles issue in Illinois had occurred on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Public Health in Illinois, seven sites were identified as “possible exposure sites” between April 7 and April 15.
“Anyone in these sites in this time frame must contact his health care provider if it shows the measles symptoms,” the administration said in a statement, noting that the risk of measles in the general public in Illinois is still low.
The new information comes one day after reporting the first confirmed measles case for 2025.
Possible exposure sites include:
Marion Il Legacy Fitness, Marion Il Walmart, Marion Il Kroger Grocery, Marion Il Wonder Wash Laundry, Marion Il Easy Coin, Marion Il Small Star Laundry, Marion Il
Officials urged anyone who visited these sites during the timing window to monitor symptoms for 21 days from the day they are likely to be exposed. Symptoms include fever, cough, nose, pink eye, or rash that starts around the head or face and spreads through the rest of the body.
“The chances of infection are small for those who suffer from measles either from previous vaccination or infection. If anyone begins to show measles symptoms, they must notify their medical provider,” Idph said on alert. “If a person with measles symptoms are needed personally by a healthcare professional, he must notify his provider or health facility in advance, so the appropriate precautions can be taken to avoid additional exposure or the spread of the disease.”
Illinois health officials announced for the first time the confirmed case on Wednesday, noting that it was reported in a patient in the far south of Illinois. The case was confirmed through laboratory tests, with no outbreak in the state.
It was the first case in Illinois since Chicago's spread in early 2024, which led to a total of 67 cases.
Currently, the outbreak of Texas and New Mexico led to more than 680 confirmed cases and three deaths, with more than 800 cases at the country level, officials said.
“This first case reported from measles in Illinois in 2025 is a reminder to our residents in Illinois that this disease can be prevented through the updated vaccination,” said Dr. Self Fahra, IDPH.
Most people are routinely vaccinated during childhood and are not a high risk of measles.
Officials said the highest concern is for infants, as children receive their first vaccine dose between the ages of 12 and 15 months, and individuals who cannot get vaccination for other health concerns.
Anyone who thinks may be encouraged to be contacted with their health care provider about protection through previous vaccination or the need for future vaccination.
“The measles prevention key is the measles vaccine/mumps/pill (MMR).” Two measles vaccine were 97 % effective in preventing measles.
As part of the preparations for potential measles outbreak, health officials in Illinois have previously launched a measles simulator, which shows the possible progress of school outbreaks on vaccination data.
