Police said that the theft occurred on the CTA Blue Line train on 117 W. Lake St. At 9 pm on Friday.
Chicago police said Timothy Johnson, 39, from Chicago is facing multiple charges regarding the crime, including theft of crimes and three misdemeanors related to resistance/peace officer.
Police said that the stolen violin in the theft, which is worth $ 10,000, was in a black storage case, and it has a completion of the distinctive wooden grains on its back. It has no serial number, because it was dedicated.
Cyrus Sporlock said this was not the type of violin that you can buy from the store. It was a hand -made family legacy, which is something that he described as “indispensable.”
Speck, a student at the Chicago Institute of Arts, says that he was handcrafted by his older brother.
