Health officials have reported the confirmed measles of the year in Cook County.
One person who suffers from the disease is an adult from Chicago internationally traveled via Ohair Airport in early April, according to the Ministry of Public Health at Chicago.
A rash began on April 25 and they have been isolated at home since it was diagnosed. They also received one dose of the MMR vaccine, which covers measles, mumps and measles.
Health officials said that the other case was discovered in a member of the adult Cook province who went to the hospital on Monday for medical care and was isolated. Their vaccination situation is unknown.
The two events come one week that the Ministry of Public Health in Illinois reported the issue of confirmed measles in the state in a clinic in the far south of Illinois.
Chicago Wook Cook Health Department is to determine and notify people who may have been subjected to two other cases. Measles are a very infectious disease – one person can affect up to 18 individuals. On the other hand, the influenza rate is about two to two people.
Chicago health officials have identified the following sites as possible exposure points:
April 21: Chicago Public Library, Independence Branch, 4024 N. Elston Ave. 3901 S. Harlem Ave. , From 10 am to 12:30 pm Monday: Mobil, 2945 S. Harlem Ave. , Berwyn, 10:20 AM – 1 pm
Anyone who is not sure of his vaccination and may have been exposed to notifying the health care provider.
Throughout the country, the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 884 of the confirmed measles and three virus deaths in 2025.
“We are witnessing the return of measles in the United States, despite the fact that two doses of the MMR vaccine can prevent it,” said Dr. Kiran Joshi, Executive Director of Provisional Operations at the Ministry of Public Health in Cook Province. “The wrong information has contributed to low vaccination rates and nurtured the outbreak of the last disease. The MMR vaccine has been in use for more than 50 years, and it is very effective, and he protects millions of lives.”
