Chicago shooting: Shooting at Royal Sonesta Hotel in Near North at State and Illinois streets, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police said a suspect is on the run after a shooting at a downtown hotel.

The shooting happened at about 5:11 a.m. in the 500 block of N. State Street in the Near North neighborhood.

ABC7 cameras were at the scene. Video shows police focusing the investigation at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.

Police said a man broke into a house and got into an argument with a 21-year-old woman.

The suspect then pulled out a gun and hit the woman in the head, causing the gun to fire.

No one was injured as a result of the shooting.

The woman was taken to the hospital in good condition.

No one is in custody. CPD District Three detectives are investigating.
