Kate Tandy, President of Bridge Arkansas, meets with members of other SEC BridgeUSA chapters.
Last month, Kate Tendy and Maddie Joyner had the honor of attending the 2024 Bridge USA Summit in Chicago. Bridge USA is a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting constructive political dialogue on college campuses across the country. The two, along with Lily Beck, are involved in bringing this initiative to the University of Arkansas.
During the summit, they had the opportunity to connect with established chapters across the country and share ideas and strategies for fostering civil dialogue on an increasingly polarized campus. A highlight of the event was a discussion management training with CEO Manu Mill, where they gained valuable insights for facilitating productive conversations.
The summit also featured a panel discussion with Congressman Raja Krishnamurthy and former Congressman Peter Roskam, who emphasized the urgent need to bridge political divides in today’s society. Their perspectives underscored the importance of the work BridgeUSA does.
BridgeArkansas will kick off the semester with its first event at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, in GRAD 115. The event will focus on some of the most controversial topics at the University of Arizona. Additionally, they will host a “general discussion” on the presidential debates at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, in GRAD 115.
Students interested in attending one or both of these events should follow @bridgeuofa on Instagram or check out the HogSync page for more information.
