A Chicago Police SWAT team arrested a teenage boy Wednesday night after he shot a 60-year-old man during an attempted robbery in Armor Square.
Chicago police said the man was walking shortly before 8:20 p.m. in the 200 block of West Pershing Road when the boy approached him and tried to take his belongings, leading to a struggle.
As the boy fled, he turned and shot the man, who was not shot, police said.
Officers approached the boy, but he ran into a nearby residence, prompting a SWAT team to respond, police said.
Police said the boy came out of the home “a short time later” and was taken into custody without incident.
District 1 detectives are investigating.
